FAQ

Is there free Wi-Fi in Seoul?

Yes. The Seoul city government runs free public Wi-Fi on main streets, at tourist sites, in parks, traditional markets and at bus stops; the map on this page shows 10,179 such spots from the city’s own list.

What is the password for Seoul public Wi-Fi?

Choose the network SEOUL_Secure and log in with ID seoul and password seoul. On Android pick EAP method PEAP, phase 2 MSCHAPv2 and "Don’t validate" for the certificate; on iPhone tap Trust when asked. The government network Public WiFi Secure uses ID wifi and password wifi.

Is Seoul public Wi-Fi safe?

The "Secure" networks (SEOUL_Secure, Public WiFi Secure) encrypt the connection. As on any public Wi-Fi, avoid online banking or entering card details on it if you can use mobile data instead.

Is there Wi-Fi on the subway and buses?

Seoul city buses and many bus stops have public Wi-Fi; this page maps the bus stops. Wi-Fi inside subway trains depends on the line and is not in the city list this page uses.

Do I still need a SIM or eSIM?

Public Wi-Fi covers fixed spots, not everywhere — for maps and taxi apps on the move most travelers still use a local SIM, eSIM or pocket Wi-Fi. See our apps and tips page.
