KoreanKorea is a guide to Korea for travelers and readers abroad, run by an independent site operator in Korea. This page explains how our articles and live pages are made, what we check, and what we never do.
How articles are made
- Sources first. Every article starts from official announcements and public sources — government and city notices, transport operators, tourism organizations, company releases and broadcaster schedules. The sources are listed in each article.
- Written with AI assistance. Drafts are written with AI from those collected facts. The AI is told to use only facts that were found in the sources.
- Checked automatically. Before publishing, an automated review checks the draft against the facts collected from its sources — numbers, dates, prices and claims. Anything that cannot be confirmed is removed instead of guessed, and articles that fail the check are held back, not published.
- Reviewed by a person. The site operator reviews every published article after it goes live and corrects anything that is wrong or out of date. Each page shows the date it was last updated.
How live pages and tools are made
Timetables, exchange rates, weather, crowd levels, festival lists, pharmacy hours and similar pages are built automatically from official public data — for example the Korea Tourism Organization, Seoul Open Data, the Korea Meteorological Administration, the national public transport data service (TAGO), Incheon International Airport, Seoul Metro and the official K-ETA site. They are rebuilt twice a day and republished only when the data changes. Where a page calculates something itself — travel times, a rail pass’s value, a trip budget — the page says how, in a “How this page works” box. Calculated numbers are estimates; the official source linked on the page is the final word.
What we never do
- Invent experiences, reviews, ratings, quotes or visits. Restaurant and place guides are built from official tourism listings; they are not reviews and not rankings.
- Take payment for coverage. A sponsored post would say so at the top.
- Fill a gap with a guess. If a price, date or rule could not be confirmed, we leave it out.
Other languages
The Japanese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese versions are translated from the English pages with AI. Korean names, numbers and official terms are kept as they are. Each version adds notes for its readers: entry rules for their country from the official K-ETA list, approximate prices in their currency next to won amounts, and whether the 1330 tourist help line speaks their language.
Photos and illustrations
Photos come from open-licence sources such as the Korea Tourism Organization, Visit Jeju, Wikimedia Commons and Openverse, and each one is credited with its licence. Where no suitable photo exists we use an illustration made with AI, and it is labelled as AI-generated.
Ads and affiliate links
The site shows Google AdSense ads. Some pages carry labelled affiliate links (Amazon, and on a few travel pages Klook or Trip.com); we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Pages for people in trouble — pharmacies, emergency rooms, subway delays, air quality, lost items — carry no affiliate boxes.
