Korea K-ETA for Singapore passport — how to check and apply
K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) is applied for online at www.k-eta.go.kr or in the official mobile app — no embassy visit involved.
- On k-eta.go.kr, first check whether your nationality is on the K-ETA-required list.
- If it is listed, apply on the site or in the app.
- Pay the application fee online; it is a screening fee and is not refunded even if the application is denied — the current amount in KRW is shown at payment on the official portal.
- Submit well before boarding: applications are typically processed within 72 hours, and peak seasons can take longer.
- Once approved, the K-ETA is valid for 2 years and covers multiple trips within that window.
The 2-year validity is the reason many repeat travelers apply once and reuse it — 24 months at 90 days per visit means the same approval can cover several trips.
If your nationality is not on the K-ETA list, the site routes you to a visa application at a Korean embassy or consulate instead.
What happens when you land in Korea
There is no paper arrival card to fill in on the Korean side — the process runs on electronic declaration.
K-ETA or visa-free status is pre-screening only — the officer at the checkpoint makes the final call on entry and on how many days you actually get.
So do not treat 90 days as guaranteed; treat it as the maximum the waiver allows.
If you want to stay beyond the initial period, an extension requires an in-person application at a Korea Immigration Service office before your permitted stay expires.
Getting back into Singapore after Korea
Before flying home, submit the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) — it is free on the ICA website or the MyICA Mobile app.
Submission opens within 3 days including the arrival date, so for a January 25 landing you can submit from January 22.
There is no paper form, and commercial sites charging a fee are not affiliated with ICA — paying one can also mean missing the 3-day window.
From January 30, 2026, Singapore’s No-Boarding Directive lets airlines refuse boarding to passengers who did not submit the SGAC, are entry-banned or flagged high-risk, or hold passports with under 6 months validity.
Entry into Singapore is granted as an electronic Visit Pass (e-Pass) emailed after clearance — check the last permitted stay date in it instead of assuming a set number of days.
Extending a stay in Singapore requires an online Short-Term Visit Pass application, and approval is not automatic.
Documents checklist for the airport
For the Korea-bound leg, have a passport with 6+ months validity (the standard recommendation), a return or onward ticket, and proof of funds for the stay.
Korea does not appear to strictly enforce a 6-month validity rule on arrival, but airlines flying you there may refuse boarding if the passport expires within your stay — airline rules can differ from immigration rules, so check your carrier.
For the return leg, a submitted SGAC is required from January 30, 2026, and Singapore-bound boarding is refused on passports under 6 months validity.

Re-entering Korea shortly after a long visit — roughly 60 or more days — can trigger extra questions or refusal on suspicion of using visa-free entries as a substitute for living there.
If Korea is becoming a regular long stay, a proper visa through a Korean embassy or consulate is the route for travelers not covered by visa-free entry or K-ETA.
I would apply for K-ETA a week out rather than 72 hours before — the fee is small, but a peak-season processing delay could cost me the flight itself.
Keep each visit clearly a visit, and the waiver keeps working as designed.
