The Seoul taekwondo performance resumed on September 5, 2026, after a summer break.
In the first half of the year, 20,209 people watched 35 shows — already more than the 19,835 who came through all of last year.

Seoul taekwondo performance: what makes it different from a match
It is not a sports match.
The show combines orthodox taekwondo demonstrations — poomsae, board breaking, high kicks, group choreography — with creative fusion performances built on music, dance, and performance art.
The regular stage sits at Cheonwoogak inside a traditional hanok village, so the kicks and breaking unfold against traditional Korean architecture.
Seoul positions the show as flagship K-culture tourism content, extending the K-pop and drama route into performance and hands-on experiences.
Taekwondo itself has been on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2013 (UNESCO listing).
Last year the show posted a satisfaction score of 97.9 and a 98.8% revisit intention, on May 2026 coverage of the program.

When and where to watch
Regular shows run on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM at Cheonwoogak in Namsangol Hanok Village, from September 5 through October 18, 2026.
That gives seven weekends, two sessions per day.
Pick the 2 PM session if the evening is tight; the 4 PM session leaves room for a late lunch nearby.
Two street performances are also scheduled at Dongdaemun Design Plaza, on September 19 and October 9, 2026 (Yonhap, September 4, 2026).
The city deliberately pairs a traditional space with a modern landmark, so both sides of central Seoul get a stage.
The summer run was suspended in July and August due to extreme heat, which is why the season now ends in mid-October.

Who performs
About 10 teams rotate through the season, including the Kukkiwon demonstration team, Miraeme, Bigabi, and university demonstration teams such as Kyungmin (September 4, 2026 report).
The Kukkiwon team, founded in 1974, has performed in about 120 countries as a taekwondo diplomacy unit, so the level on stage is national-team grade.
Because the roster rotates by date, check the cast for the weekend before going.
Free experience zone on site
A free experience zone operates on site with digital strike-measuring equipment — punch meters and kicking games.
No advance booking is needed; visitors join on the spot.
The zone is built for children, families, and foreign tourists to try without burden.
The program coverage from May 2026 describes it as a walk-in format.
Foreigner taekwondo experience program
Foreign tourists can join a dedicated experience program held on Sundays, about 30 minutes after the regular show.
Participants wear a dobok, learn basic moves, and practice board breaking.
Everyone receives a completion certificate and a commemorative belt made in Seoul’s 2026 official color, Morning Yellow.
The belt serves as a memorable keepsake from the experience.

Getting there and staying updated
Namsangol Hanok Village is at 28 Toegye-ro 34-gil, Jung-gu, near Chungmuro station on subway lines 3 and 4, at the foot of Namsan.
DDP is reachable via Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, served by lines 2, 4, and 5.
